The private is the political: arte croata contemporânea
"The private is the public".
a selection of Croatian contemporary art".

The new normal: art, technology and privacy

Videostill
Recomendo a ótima resenha do we make money not art.

Luisa Paraguai

“What we see is important – only live – in our eyes through what see us.” Georges Didi-Huberman (1998) The new relations of participant/information/technological interface is possible through Computer Mediated-Comunication on the Web, for example ICQ, chat, virtual communities, video conference, e-mail, discussion list. The Web users can establish relationship in a synchronous/simultaneous and asynchronous way through this interactive communication space. This new possibility of social and political organization and cooperation on the net take place through the circulation of information when the users have the same purpose and not more the same shared physical space. The image other’s construction takes place through intermediated information by shared text, image and some times audio, on each user’s thoughts. This work presents this new communication space as another “perception system” when it tries to compose and show the user’s relationship among other people and himself/herself through the juxtaposition and superposition of the windows in an aesthetical movement. This site tries to propose a different behavior from the common sites when the user has to stop and try “to see and be seen”. The user is conducted to see and be seen while he/she is observed by different sights around him/her through the composition of the windows opened without interaction/navigation/choose. It is needed to close all the windows in a metaphorical introspective movement for the user find himself/herself: external random links show the possibility the others’ presence on the Web. There are some links on the first Web page that conduct the users to some communication spaces as ICQ, net meeting, 3D chat, electronic chat, and virtual community."
Biography Author: Luisa Paraguai Donati PhD Student and Master at Unicamp, Department of Multimedia, Institute of Arts. Researcher from wAwRwT project. She has presented works at National and International Congress about Art and Technology. She attended with the web site INcorpos at some recent artistic exhibition: “II Biennial from Mercosul”, Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil, and “Electronic Art Exhibition - SIBGRAPI2000”, Gramado, RS, Brazil.

Blogger Skins e TAGallery

A curadoria de "Google Art, or How to Hack Google" é de Ana Otero.
"Almost coinciding with the ninth anniversary of Google search engine (last Thursday, September 27), the show "Google Art, or How to Hack Google" aims to illuminate and critique the influence of this expanding online institution. Artworks include ad hacks that attempt to foil Google's seemingly unstoppable business machinery, playful re-interpretations of search results and alterations of its geographical worldview. Together, they elevate and critique Google's logic, while recognizing its own deepening relationship with our culture, behavior and lives."

Open-air surveillance cinema

Interessante trabalho de Michelle Terran (CA) - Friluftskino: Experiments in open-air surveillance cinema - no Urban Interface, Oslo. Vejam descrição abaixo:
Friluftskino: Experiments in open-air surveillance cinema
Every day from 13th to 20th of September at 21h.
Throughout the city of Oslo. Rain or shine. Popcorn and seating provided.

"An after effect of the consumer use of wireless surveillance technology is the production of images. These video images, incidental in nature, are easily intercepted while walking through the streets with a video scanner, creating an alternate journey into the non-places of the city created through surveillance use. Spatial boundary conventions of private and public, inside and outside are challenged by the reality of the radio transmission which moves beyond walls and onto the street. By accessing these images one is also offered a view into how the public depicts and represents itself through the use of these readily available technologies and a glimpse into the ways the city itself is redefined and restructured through migratory and economic flows and shifts.
For ‘Frilufts Kino‘, the city of Oslo will provide the source and the projection surface for an open-air cinema. Once a day, for a period of seven days, different places throughout the Oslo districts of Grønland and Grunerløkka will be used as locations for a ‘Frilufts Kino’. Using a powerful video beamer and video scanner, live surveillance intercepted from wireless CCTV cameras will be captured and then rebroadcasted upon the city walls. The live transmission will ideally last as long as a feature length film. The extended time of the intervention is intended to allow one to contemplate the live image which, contrary to being titillating and action-filled, is actually empty and still, a place of non-action. They are spaces to be filled, through subtle shifts that take place within the observed scene, or through the viewer’s own physical or imagined intervention."
